Initial Application

To become a certified CNA instructor, please contact the Board's Licensure and Certification department to determine whether or not you will qualify for instructor certification.  Applications for initial instructor certification are not available online.

To be certified as a CNA instructor, you must:

  • Hold a permanent RN license in Nevada
  • Have at least two (2) years of nursing experience
  • Have one (1) year in the care of the elderly or chronically ill (you must provide a letter on letterhead from a current or past employer verifying one year of experience in caring for the elderly or chronically ill)
  • Have no disciplinary action, administrative action, or any complaints pending against your nursing license
  • Complete the Board-approved Train the Trainer course at College of Southern Nevada, Great Basin College, or Truckee Meadows Community College
  • Complete the instructor application
  • Submit the application fee of $100
