The National Transportation Safety Board has adopted their safety study, Drug Use Trends in Aviation: Assessing the Risk of Pilot Impairment (2014). Six new recommendations were made, including two recommendations to all states, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Those two recommendations underscore the importance of licensed health care providers routinely discussing with patients the effect their medical condition and medication use may have on their ability to safely operate a vehicle in any mode of transportation.
